Monsters are suddenly appearing in the villages of the peaceful Dokapon Land! The king has summoned the heroes of the land to defeat the threat, but the heroes have decided to compete against one another rather than working together. Kessen! Dokapon Land IV: Densetsu no Yūsha-tachi is a fantasy RPG-themed multiplayer boardgame, and the first title in the long-running Dokapon series. Up to four players -- with CPU opponents filling the remaining slots -- each choose a class (which is purely cosmetic in this entry), then take turns spinning a roulette to move around the board, with various events occurring depending on where the player lands. On most turns, the player will battle against an enemy or other player, which plays out as a simple rock-paper-scissors game. Special spaces include villages which can be captured to earn income, churches which recover status and act as a respawn point upon defeat, shops to buy items and equipment, and even dungeons which lead to high-level ares with valuable treasure. There are also various randomized events which can occur. At the end of the set number of turns, whichever player has the most assets (money and villages) is declared the winner. The game was later remade as Dokapon Journey.
