Daisenryaku: Player's Spirit is a turn-based war strategy game and part of SystemSoft's long-running Daisenryaku series. It is adapted from the PC release Gendai Daisenryaku EX, using the specific rules and AI routines from that version while adding additional modes and features along with new full-3D graphics for the combat scenes. The game includes four distinct game modes, two of which are new to this iteration of the game and are designed to help beginner players learn fundamental techniques and strategies: Single Map mode is an exhibition battle mode, where 1-5 players battle on any of the game's maps. Campaign mode is a single-player campaign across a series of maps, fought against the computer. Puzzle Daisenryaku mode is a series of small-scale challenge maps designed to teach gameplay fundamentals and advanced strategies. Weapon Battle mode is a faster-paced tournament battle mode where each player has a squad of only five units.
