The Shadow

The Shadow is a Final Fight-style beat'em up game based on the 1994 film in turn based on the classic radio and pulp magazine character. Though finished or nearly finished, the game was cancelled at the last minute due to the financial failure of the film. Set in 1933 New York, the player controls The Shadow as he battles the forces of the evil Shiwan Khan through nine levels, including Times Square, the Empire State Building, an amusement park, Chinatown and more. Controls allow for a simple attack that can be chained into combos and can also be combined with a jump. There is also a leg sweep that reduces The Shadow's health bar when it connects. Finally, there are three different special powers: a dash attack, invisibility that can be turned on and off and devastation, which sends out a force field that damages every enemy caught in its radius. Energy for the special powers is limited but can be refilled through power-ups. In some sections there is also gunplay: The Shadow is armed but plays fair, as he only pulls out his pistols if gun-wielding enemies appear. Another gameplay variation comes in level six, in which The Shadow mounts a motorbike armed with cannons, and must dispatch enemy bikes by shooting them while evading their shots and thrown explosives.
