Raiden: Nova is a twin-stick shooter. Unlike other entries in the Raiden series, this is not a vertically-scrolling shooter. It is a spin-off presented as a 360° shooter with multiple vehicles and upgrades to unlock through achievements and loot boxes. Many of the vehicles and enemy models are featured in previous entries of the numbered series. This game features an adventure mode, an unlimited mode, and several difficulties.
