Matsukata Hiroki no Super Trolling is a fishing game featuring the likeness and endorsement of actor Hiroki Matsukata. The game's main focus is on trolling, a particular type of fishing which is done from a slow-moving cruiser boat that targets big-game fish like marlin. The player can select from one of four boats and captains, each of whom has different specialties and skill at gauging the size of fish, as well as a variety of line and bait options. The main story mode has the player competing in a series of four trolling tournaments — Mozambique, Cuba, Australia, and Hawaii — attempting to land the biggest catch under certain rules and restrictions to move on to the next stage of the tournament. Marlin are the top catch, but can only be caught using bonito as bait, and bonito must themselves first be caught. In addition to the story tournament, there is also a free trolling mode which includes an additional two locations — Peru and India — as well as a free fishing mode with four locations for catching smaller, easier fish. The game also includes a field guide which documents all the different types of fish the player has caught.
